Our Lady of Health Tamil Primary School
Our Lady of Health Tamil Primary School was started in the year 1917. What began as a small school in the coastal village of Vailankanni soon saw tremendous developments. It was upgraded as a Middle School in 1956 and as a High School in 1977. In the year 1985 when the school became a Higher Secondary, classes from I to V were segregated and made a separate unit under the name "Our Lady of Primary School".
The School is located in a sprawling two acre area, to the west of the Railway Station, a little away from the humdrum of Vailankanni. Under the sponsorship of the Shrine Basilica, the school enjoys very good infrastructure. It has a two floor building which has 10 class rooms and an office. Adequate drinking water facilities have been provided. With plenty of trees and green, the school campus presents an ideal setting for the young to learn their basics. The Management runs a van to bring children from their places.
Very Rev Fr A Michael, Rector of Shrine Basilica, is the Correspondent. Rev Sr Roselin, FBS, serves as the Headmistress. A total number of 384 students study this year. The school's staff strength is 11 - including 5 Sisters.
Apart from the academics, the students are given ample opportunities to participate in sports and cultural events and develop their skills.
