Infant Jesus Nursery School
Infant Jesus Nursery School was started on 4 June 1990 by Most Rev Dr S L Gabriel, Bishop Emeritus of Trichy, during his tenure here at Shrine Basilica, Vailankanni, as Rector and Parish priest. The motto of the school is "Ever Onwards". The idea behind starting it is to give a quality English medium education to the poor children in Vailankanni and the surrounding villages. Infant Jesus Nursery got the government recognition in 1998. Located on the main road, the school is within the easy reach of the students. Besides, the management runs two vans to fetch children from their localities. Under the auspices of the Shrine, the school enjoys excellent infrastructure: a huge play ground, playthings, drinking water and bathroom facilities and a three floor building which houses 13 class rooms, an office and a computer lab.
Very Rev Fr A Michael, Rector of Shrine Basilica, Vailankanni, is the present Correspondent. Sr Madalene Mary, FBS, serves as the Headmistress. The school's greatest strength is its task force: 15 committed teachers work untiringly to cater to the needs of over 575 children studying in classes from L K G to V. Not just academics - the school offers a wide range of programmes to enhance the educational, emotional, and spiritual growth of the children and help them discover and develop their latent talents. Some of them are as follows: catechism and moral classes, meditation sessions, dance training, elocution classes etc.
Infant Jesus Nursery school does all it can to prepare it students for the competitive world where knowing English is a must.
